Yesterday genetic testing company 23 & Me confirmed a data breach

Updated: Nov 10, 2023

Yesterday genetic testing company 23 & Me confirmed a data breach that targeted shared dna with relatives. This data is incredibly sensitive. And we have no idea where this data will end up. It’s not impossible that this hacker group could be State sponsored, i.e. working for a government of the world.

We have a data security problem globally.

Roughly ⅔s of world citizens have had some part of their sensitive data hacked. We deserve better. The solution resides in a different infrastructure for data. There is math-based technology that enables computation over encrypted data. This is a game changer for the global data paradigm.

Allowing data to be encrypted reduces the damage from hacks, as breached data would essentially be useless to a hacker, since they would only have ciphertext without a decryption key to gain insights to the data.
